My [EU e-Privacy Directive](/blog/development/server-timing-for-geoip-data-delivery-to-achieve-gdpr-compliance "Server-Timing for GeoIP Data Delivery to Achieve GDPR Compliance") [plugin](/blog/development/bug-reports-a-developers-best-friend-not-a-burden "Bug Reports: A Developer's Best Friend, Not a Burden") for [Joomla](/blog/hosting/cron-vs-joomla-lazy-scheduler-and-webcron "Cron vs Joomla Lazy Scheduler and WebCron") was recently highlighted in the April 2025 issue of Joomla Community Magazine. The article, "[Everything your parents told you about cookies is a lie!](https://magazine.joomla.org/all-issues/april-2025/i-m-a-good-cookie-monster)", explores the evolving landscape of web privacy and cookie compliance, and I’m deeply honored to have my work recognized by such a respected voice in the Joomla community. This feature means so much to me—it’s not just about the plugin itself but about the years of dedication I’ve poured into creating tools that support Joomla users and the [open-source](/blog/development/windownamestore-a-privacy-friendly-volatile-storage-solution-for-web-developers "WindowNameStore: A Privacy-Friendly Volatile Storage Solution for Web Developers") ethos. EU e-Privacy Directive (my extension) was built to help website owners navigate complex privacy regulations with ease. Acknowledgment in Joomla! Community Magazine feels like a true [validation](/blog/development/new-geoip-coming-soon "New GeoIP Coming Soon") of that mission. ## Free Software is the Key [System - EU e-Privacy Directive](/software/joomla/plugins/system-eu-e-privacy-directive) is one of 2 extensions listed as Free options for Joomla cookie compliance. Not #1 - but I'll take what I can get. Competition with [WordPress](/blog/development/canonical-http-headers-for-rss-feeds "Canonical HTTP Headers for RSS Feeds") comes down to community engagement - and they've got us beat, hands down. 90% of the WordPress extension ecosystem is free, while Joomla only provides 40% [free extensions](/blog/personal/why-my-joomla-extensions-are-free "Why My Joomla Extensions Are Free"). I'm proud to say 100% of my extensions are free. Download and enjoy! ## System - EU e-Privacy Directive The e-Privacy plugin has been an ongoing project, and this kind of recognition really means a lot. Developed to service my own customers, I made it free as a pay-it-forward to the Joomla community that has always been there to support open source [developers](/blog/personal/joomla-numbers-dont-lie "Joomla Numbers Don’t Lie") and projects. I can't state enough how this makes me feel - it's a great honor to be mentioned in the magazine again...it's been a while - and in English this time! My wife isn't generally happy about [free software](/blog/development/fair-reviews-and-support "Fair Reviews and Support"). It's free because it's a business card. When my free software helps you to achieve your goals, it becomes more likely that any custom work you have might be directed my way. I get to benefit by making the web a better place, and maybe get some custom work on the side. ## Joomla Community Magazine Being part of the Joomla community has been an incredible journey of collaboration, [learning](/blog/personal/someone-elses-code "Someone Else’s Code"), and growth.
