Hi Michael,

I'm liking the sound of HashCash but have a couple of quick questions if I may:

1. Does it work with all contact forms/extensions or just the Joomla core ones (registration, contacts, etc)?
2. Does v1.7 use the Joomla extension update function?

No. 2 is not an issue; it's just me being lazy!

Best wishes to you

John V

1. It works with any form that uses a Joomla Captcha plugin. You may not have noticed, hopefully you didn't, but it's used here on my site.

I actually didn't renew my JomSocial subscription because they use an ineffective Captcha with no option to change it.

2. Yes, it uses the Joomla updater.

I'm lazy too, which is why I like to automate things....if I have to do it more than twice, I'm going to automate it!

Thanks Michael.

Installed on local site (MAMP) and it works beautifully.

However, on live site it installs and is selectable in Global Config and all looks good in Admin, but on the front end all that happens is that the original ReCaptcha image disappears from view but is still active.

I'm sure its a server issue of some sort. Are you able to offer any insight as to why this might be, e.g. PHP module that's needed maybe? I'm on PHP 7.1.14 if that helps.

Very many thanks

John V

HashCash is invisible - if you view source you can see the hidden field. It's supposed to disappear...unless I'm misunderstanding you.

Yep, completely invisible on my local MAMP site and as it should be.

However, on my live site (exact copy of local site) after selecting HashCash in Global Config instead of the Joomla default ReCaptcha, the frontend of the site doesn't behave the same way as the local site. All that happens is that the ReCaptcha image doesn't show; ReCaptcha remains active though (e.g. the " captcha* " text is still there on the forms) and hitting "Submit" results in a "Captcha required" error message.

I've cleared all caches (site, browser, server).

Would a screen-shot help?

I'm sure it's not a HashCash issue as it behaves perfectly on the local site. Tempted to try deleting ReCaptcha plugin from live site!

Many thanks :)
