Very many thanks for your speedy and informative reply. I'm not actually sure what much of your reply means,and I'm confused as to why the modal window works pretty much as before in the admin, but not on the front end? For now, I've now switched to the Javascript confirm option (which is not ideal) because the Modal window option only displays the dialogue box below the footer where it's difficult to see. I look forward to your new version when available.

Hi Michael, this could be exactly what I am looking for. Would there be any possible way to add an auto logoff for the groups that are using the global session time? If not, would an auto log off plugin still work alongside this, assuming I can find one?
I want registered users to be kicked off in 3 minutes of no activity vs the publishers who should not get logged out.
You're in luck. You can choose which groups are kept alive, and everyone else gets a warning message with a countdown timer before they get logged off.
