Dear Richey Web

I use the little program called External Favicon.

It works great, and even great in Kunena forum. I have a LIST list there over various external articles[/url] and 90% seems fine. But the few that does not you spot easily.

Now what i can not get is how to get the exclude domain function to work. You see at my page that also the Kunena favicon comes out large and ugly.

Got some tips?

My exclude domains list look like this:

www.dagsavisenfremtiden.no
dagsavisenfremtiden.no
www.kunena.org
kunena.org
www.e24.no
e24.no

But non are excluded

Looking at your list, the first site doesn't display a favicon. Their page loads this favicon: /sites/default/themes/dagensjuridik/favicon.ico

But that favicon file is a 1x1 8bit image - it's blank, there's nothing to it.

Looking at the source of others, they don't even link a favicon file, and their site root doesn't have one present - so there isn't anything for my plugin to display.

Yeah, the more I look, every one in your list that's missing a favicon is actually missing the favicon on the site.

You can use the "alternate images" configuration in the plugin to give these another favicon instead.

The plugin assumes the favicon is on your site, but you could point to a full URL to a favicon you like. Maybe a CDN would be OK, but I'd suggest hosting it yourself, so you don't need to rely on someone else's favicon.

the configuration is simple: domain.tld:/path/to/favicon.ico
one domain/icon per line.

Here's an example: standpunktet.no:https://www.google.com/favicon.ico

Any link from standpunktet.no would be displayed with the google favicon (just an example, using the G might be a bad idea...)

Looking at the plugin configuration (it inserts some javascript into your page, I'm not looking at your /administrator backend)

The plugin has only registered e24.no as an excluded domain. Either your configuration only has that one domain, or there's something wonky going on with this plugin in the newer versions of Joomla. I haven't tested it since J3.1....I wrote it for someone - and I don't use it myself.

I'll have a closer look, and maybe release a new version to take advantage of the new form field types. That would make configuration much easier.

Hi and thanks...

I changed my exclude list to this:

www.kunena.org/favicon.ico
www.dagsavisenfremtiden.no/favicon.ico
e24.no/favicon.ico

But that did not really help.

But i will test it once again before giving it up for now. Its nice if that little feature works as one can brighten up a boring list :-)

We then concluded that despite the filter picked up the e24.no exclusion, it fail to actually block it out.

Apart from that you got some pretty awesome software produced.

I'll give it a rewrite and get these things fixed. This is one of my less popular extensions, so I don't hear much feedback about it.
