With this plugin, you can directly edit the article hits counter for any article your user is authorized to edit. Just type in the new number, and hit save.
New in 5.1.0 and up, you can enter the context and field name to enable disabled fields in other extensions. For example, to enable editable hits in the Akeeba Release System, you would enter the context "com_ars.item" with the field name "hits" into the plugin configuration and that field is now editable. Like magic!
Theoretically, it could be used to enable not just the article hits field - but any disabled field in any form within Joomla, but YMMV. It depends on how the form was created (using JForm or not). Take a look at the documentation to determine how the context and field name are determined, and that will give you a good idea about the form you're wanting to manipulate and if it is compatible with this plugin.
Why did I write this? That's easy - I needed it. I needed (wanted) to transfer hits from an old site to a new site. Specifically, the 5.1.0 update was made because I wanted to update the download hits from the Akeeba Release System to match those on my old site. If I need it, so does someone else. It gives me great pride to know that my software helps someone else. I hope you enjoy it.
